IMPORTANT VOTER INFORMATION FOR THE

APRIL 6, 2010 ANAMOSA SCHOOL SPECIAL ELECTION

 

Unregistered Voters

...are hereby advised of their need to register for the upcoming April 6, 2010 Anamosa School Special Election. To meet the pre-registration deadline of March 26, 2010, mail forms must be received by Friday, March 26, 2010, or be postmarked by March 22, 2010. Pre-registration for this election closes at five (5) o'clock p.m. on Friday, March 26, 2010.

   Persons wishing to participate in this election who register to vote after March 26, 2010 will be required to provide proof of identification (ie. current and valid photo identification card with an expiration date), AND proof of residency in the school district, when they go to the polls on election day, or when they request an absentee ballot. Other provisions may also apply.

Persons not registered to vote by March 26, 2010 should expect a longer processing time at the polls on election day.

Voter Accessibility

 Curbside voter assistance is available at the Courthouse for absentee voting during the hours the Auditor’s Office is open. Curbside voter assistance is also available at the polling site on election day. Please call ahead, or bring someone with you.

  A ballot marking device for voters with sight disabilities is available at the polling site on election day, and is expected to be available in the Auditor’s Office for use by absentee voters.

Extended Office Hours for Election Purposes

…in addition to the normal business hours of 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, the Jones County Auditor’s Office will offer extended hours to the public as follows:

Friday, March 26th     

   8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Friday, April 2nd      

   8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Monday, April 5th

   8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Election Day, April 6th

 6:00 a.m. until 9:30 p.m.

Absentee Voting

   Absentee ballots for the April 6, 2010 Anamosa School Special Election are now available in the Jones County Auditor's Office. Voters may cast an absentee ballot in the office until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 5, 2010.

   Requests for an absentee ballot to be mailed to a voter must be submitted in writing. Voters may obtain forms from various sources (see Where to Get Forms-above), or may submit their request on a piece of paper no smaller than 3” x 5”. The written request must include the voter’s name, birth date, address in the school district, (and a mailing address, if different), a statement requesting an absentee ballot for the April 6, 2010 Anamosa School Special Election, and the signature of the voter.

  Friday, April 2nd is the last day for absentee ballots to be mailed to voters.

Satellite Absentee Voting Station

Thursday, March 11, 2010 - 3:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

   For voter convenience, a satellite voting station for absentee voting has been scheduled for voters in the Anamosa Community School District. The station will be at the Strawberry Hill Elementary School, 203 Hamilton St., Anamosa in Room 118, Computer Lab, on Thursday, March 11, 2010 from 3:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.  At this station, registered voters may cast an absentee ballot for the April 6, 2010 Anamosa School Special Election. The site is fully handicapped accessible.

   Voter registration forms will be available for persons who are not currently registered, and for those who need to update their voter information. Voters who register at the station will be allowed the opportunity to cast an absentee ballot at that time.
