Secondary Road Setback Ordinance
Regulates new construction within 30 feet of the established road right-of-way line. Contact the Jones County Engineer's Office prior to building within proximity of the right-of-way line. We can help you determine the location of the established right-of-way line and the corresponding setback line. Applicants can apply for a variance if their construction falls within the setback limits. The County Engineer will consider variances on a case-by-case basis.
Prohibition of Jumping/Diving from County-Owned Bridges
Prohibits jumping and/or diving from any bridge owned by Jones County.
Flood Plain Management Ordinance
Regulates all new or substantially improved building within flood hazard areas. To determine whether your building lies within the flood hazard area contact the Jones County Engineer's Office. A permit must be issued by the Jones County Engineer prior to construction within the flood hazard zone.

Engine Noise Reduction Ordinance
The purpose of this ordinance is to prohibit the use of any engine brake, compression brake or mechanical exhaust device designed to aid in the braking or deceleration of any vehicle that results in excessive, loud, unusual or explosive noise from such vehicle.
Dust Control Policy
Creates a permit requirement to treat a specified section of road with one of the four approved dust control products-calcium chloride, magnesium chloride, lignon sulphonate or soybean oil.
