Jones County Land Use
The Jones County Zoning Ordinance was first adopted by the Board of Supervisors on March 24, 1998 as an Agricultural Land Preservation Ordinance. This ordinance was later replaced by a regular Zoning Ordinance on April 3, 2007. These ordinances followed the consideration and guidance of the Jones County 1997 Land Use Plan that was prepared by the Jones County Land Use Plan Advisory Board. The plan was designed to establish an orderly use and development of the land and the natural resources. This ordinance applies to all land within Jones County which lies outside the corporate limits of any city. The cities of Anamosa, Monticello, and Cascade retain the right for review within a two mile radius around their respective city.
