NOTICE OF FEE INCREASE
Effective July 1, 2009, recording fees increased by $2.00. The fee for the first page of all documents, EXCEPT for plats of survey, is $9.00. Each additional page is $5.00. The fee for a plat of survey will remain at $7.00 for the first page and $5.00 for each additional page. The fee increase is effective from July 1, 2009, through June 30, 2011. Jones County Recorder Passport Information
Passport applications may be picked up in the Recorder’s office or simply go to the passport website at: www.travel.state.gov to print the application. We take applications from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Applications are mailed out daily.
The items needed at the time of application are listed below:
1. A completed unsigned application. Print legibly in black ink.
2. Two passport photos which can be taken by the staff at the Recorder’s office at the time that you apply. (Cost $10.00 for 4 pictures)
3. A certified copy of your birth certificate, previous passport or original naturalization certificate. The birth certificate needs to be issued by the state or county, NOT the hospital. Notification of Birth Registration forms are not acceptable forms of Citizenship.
4. Driver’s license or government issued photo ID for the applicant and/or the parents if they are appearing with the minor.
5. Two checks for each application. Money orders are acceptable. Debit and credit cards are not acceptable and cash cannot be sent in with the application.
6. Each person applying for a passport must present themselves to the accepting agent, including children.
7. If applicant is 16 or 17 at least one parent must appear with child, sign the application and show their ID.
8. If applicant is under 16, both parents must appear with child, sign the application and show their ID.
Marie Krutzfield, the Jones County Recorder, suggests that individuals contact the office, (319) 462-2477, so her staff can go through a passport checklist to ensure that applicants will have all the documentation they need.

Hunting & Fishing Licenses: Hunters and anglers are reminded to make sure they have a current license. You can purchase your 2010 Hunting & Fishing Licenses at the Jones County Recorder's Office. Spring turkey licenses are available now.
