The Recorder's Office was created by the First Legislative Assembly of the Territory of Iowa in 1839.  The Recorder continues to maintain official records of documents affecting title to real estate.  A significant portion of duties performed by the other county officials are dependent on the work performed by the County Recorder.  In addition, we issue hunting and fishing licenses annually, register boats, snowmobiles, and ATVs. Birth, Death, and Marrigage records are maintained in the Recorder's Office, issuing Marriage Licenses, and Certified copies of Vital Records.  As a service to the public, we take Passport pictures at a cost of $10.00.

ATV, Snowmobile, and Dirtbike permits expired 12/31/2011.  Please bring your driver's license and user permit to renew.  If you have any questions, please call 319-462-2477.

 Boat registrations expired on 4/30/2010.

$5.00 penalty will be applied.

We no longer accept Passport Applications.  However, the Jones County Recorder's Office still takes passport photos.

The fee is $10.

There is a new Groundwater Hazard form effective September 1, 2010.  

Trade Name Form : must print single-sided on Legal Sized Paper.

Real Estate recording cut-off
time is 4:00 PM.
 
On the last day of the month we will close the day's work at 2:30 PM, and at the end of the fiscal year books close at 1:30 PM.  The doors will be closed for fiscal year end balancing.  We are also closed designated holidays.
